A few weeks ago I received a call from one of my editors checking my availability for a day in the life shoot with WNBA rookie sensation Brittney Griner. Now I don’t follow womens basketball at all but I certainly knew who Brittney Griner was and her potential to be the LeBron James of the WNBA. Thankfully my schedule was open so I was able to book the gig.

I find it funny how I will randomly end up stumbling across something worth shooting. It happened to me yesterday in Colorado while driving to my hotel near Pikes Peak….

After spending all day Friday on the starting line it was time to find a new angle for the second day of racing in E-town. Sunny skies and temps in the 90′s would present the drivers with a 134 degree track. Temps that high always make for tricky track conditions.

Its Sunday morning here on the east coast as I work on my blog from two days ago so lets jump right into the shots from he first day of pro qualifying at the Summer Nationals in Englishtown, NJ

Rarely am I ever in town on a Wednesday of an NHRA race weekend but due to client needs for photo coverage I would get into NJ early. I had a lot of free time today between shoots at the track so I walked around Raceway Park shooting photos of the historic raceway. Here are some of my favorite images on the day.

Ask anyone who knows me what my favorite event of the year to shoot is and they will quickly say the Indianapolis 500. I feel fortunate to have covered some of the biggest sporting events around the world yet the 500 holds a special place in my heart above all others. Lets get right to the photos from my seventh career Indy 500!

A week later than originally planned we would finally get the Southern Nationals in to completion at the Atlanta Dragway. Lets take a look at some images from a good day of racing in Georgia.

Following the delay of last weekends race here in Atlanta we would return to Commerce for week two of the Southern Nationals. Only one day of qualifying for the pro drivers with the threat of rain made for some stressed out race teams as we head towards the midpoint of the regular season.

Thanks to NHRA being rained out in nearby Commerce, GA I was able to get credentialed on short notice to cover NASCAR at my favorite track, Talladega. Due to NHRA obligations I missed both of last years races for the first time since 2006 so I was very happy to be at the craziest track in NASCAR.

After a massive series of thunderstorms brought a washout to racing action on Saturday, we would be greeted with sunny skies and warm conditions for race day. It would make for a wild and crazy day of racing.
