Canon 1Dx, 16-35mm, 6400iso, f11, 1/30th, ManualThis was a fun shot as I would hold the camera out of the car aimed over at fellow photographer Ron Lewis in the fueler next to me. If you look closely you can see Ron holding his camera out shooting pics too!

Day three of the Winternationals would be a long day that was highlighted by me getting the opportunity to sit being the engine of a nostalgia top fueler spitting out header flames at night. Lets take a look at Saturdays action.

As with the previous two days, my shooting would begin in the pits.

With my buddy Jason Zindroski holding a softbox for me, we shot a few driver portraits.

For the final qualifying session it was back to the top end.

Following the completion of qualifying I took up an offer from John Ewald of wediditforlove.com , a site devoted to the history of the sport, to sit in the cockpit of a front engine dragster as they warmed it up. You don’t have to ask me twice!

Glad to see you with the canon , have you put the Nikon
Back on the shelf , saving it for fishing trips?
Hope to meet you in New England around June
New England Dragway hasn’t had an NHRA event in 25+ years
Could be longer ….. Good stuff as usual

Ps …. Ever think these guys like to grenade
A car to get on your Blog?

  3. Jeff "Joker"Sutton says:

Exceptional work to say the least !!

  4. John Ewald says:

It was my pleasure to put two of the best photogs in the world in my dragsters…of course the shots from the cockpit they just had to shoot!

  5. Jon Benedict says:

Rich55, What a CANON troll! Your bias is showing!
I wouldn’t be surprised if the CANON equipment was provided to MJR carte blanche… Good P.R. and got a rise out of you!

  6. Richb55 says:

I don’t think mbr is in it for freebies. IE: carte Blanche
I’m sure it’s the canon reliability he’s looking for
Now if he can only get his long lens back from canon,
How longs it been Mark? Over a year ?
    Is it the 600 mm?
    Keep Shootin
