Day one of the Summitracing.com Nationals in Las Vegas would turn into a marathon day of racing with pro qualifying going into darkness due to multiple delays caused by on track carnage and oil downs. While I missed most of the explosive action, I would have a great day with some fun photos. Lets get to them!

During the second round of qualifying for the NHRA season opening Winternationals, two time funny car champion Tony Pedregon would be in the worst seat in the house as he suffered a massive engine explosion. Continue on to see the full sequence.

Been way behind on posting my Best of 2012 but I have a good excuse. I have been busy preparing my newly designed photo blog featuring large retina quality images. No better way to break in this new blog than by showing off my Best of 2012 gallery I am most proud of. Strap in for my best drag racing pics of 2012!

.During the second round of eliminations in the NHRA O’Reilly Auto Parts Nationals at zMax Dragway, pro stock driver Shane Gray would ride out one of the wildest… and scary crashes I have seen. Continue on to see how he ended up in such an insane position.
.Following his spectacular fiery explosion yesterday in qualifying, Todd Lesenko and crew would have to work late into the night to get their car repaired for the first round of eliminations. Unfortunately for Lesenko he would find out lightning can strike the same place twice. That spot would be the left lane of Lucas Oil Raceway.
.The final qualifying session for an NHRA race is usually the most exciting session for action as teams try to bump their way into the field. Things get even crazier at the US Nationals, where a large number of pro drivers attempt to make the 16 car fields in the biggest race of the season. Today during final qualifying for nitro funny car, rookie Todd Lesenko would find out first hand what I’m talking about….
