A few weeks ago I received a call from one of my editors checking my availability for a day in the life shoot with WNBA rookie sensation Brittney Griner. Now I don’t follow womens basketball at all but I certainly knew who Brittney Griner was and her potential to be the LeBron James of the WNBA. Thankfully my schedule was open so I was able to book the gig.

A few days ago I told management I would like to cover Team USA basketball one time. I was told “sure” but there was a catch. I would have to go cover all the games of the day, not just the USA game. Anyone who knows me knows Im not the biggest basketball fan so this would be interesting.

Next up in my Best of 2011 series is my best basketball images. While I am far from a fan of basketball, I am slowly but surely starting to not hate covering the sport. Ok, on to the images!

Now that 2011 is coming to a close it is finally time to begin my fourth year of annual “Best of” blogs. Leading off the 2011 series of blogs is my best Celebration/Dejection shots. This year is heavy on celebration images but you will also find some good dejection shots mixed in as well. Enjoy!

Every once in awhile we get to witness great moments in sports history. I didn’t realize it but at the Charlotte Bobcats vs the Phoenix Suns game in Phoenix I would be courtside with the best seat in the house to see a moment that has people all around the country buzzing as the moment is played over and over on TV.

A new category in my best of series this year is my best portraits. While I rarely shoot portraits I have been doing my best to make an effort to start doing more so I can get better at them. While the photos in this post are not on the level of my sports action stuff I will share them anyways.

Next up in my Best of 2010 blogs is my best of basketball. I am still not too comfortable with shooting basketball but slowly but surely I am picking up a little interest in the sport.

Its the end of 2010 so its time for my third installment of my best of blogs from the year. First up will be my best celebration and dejection photos for the year.

While in Texas on a mini vacation I was offered the opportunity to head down to Houston and cover a few rounds of NCAA Basketball March Madness. While I always make it a point to tell anyone who’s listening that I hate basketball for some reason I eagerly accepted the gig and off I went for three games of college hoops.

The NBA season is now past the halfway point so I figured it would be a good time to highlight some of my favorite images from the first half.
