Time for highlights from Saturday at the Mile High Nationals. I use the word “highlights” loosely.

Above, heat waves add a nice little reflection below the pro stock cars of Jeg Coughlin Jr, right, and Ron Krisher during the final qualifying session.

This shot is an attempt to shoot something “artsy” with fans reflecting in the wheel of a car hauler parked in the pits as they watch cars race down the track.

Morgan Lucas appears dwarfed by the 8000 horsepower nitro engine on display at the Geico midway trailer.

Shooting at the very end of the track in Denver gives you an interesting view of the cars coming up the hill in the shutdown area. In this shot of funny car driver Jack Beckman, you can actually see beneath his car as it comes up over the hill.

As is always the case at Bandimere Speedway, the fans literally fill the professional pit area between rounds.

Used clutch disks from a top fuel dragster shine in the sun as they sit on the ground in the pits.

The pro stock cars of Jason Line, left, and Jeg Coughlin Jr slow by parachutes following a qualifying pass.

Top fuel dragster driver Antron Brown debuted a new paint job on his helmet. I like it!

A happy Spencer Massey shows off some karate moves as he hops into his car to head back to the pits following the final qualifying session. Massey ended the day as the top qualifier going into race day.

We would close out Saturday with a pair of fire breathing jet cars. Before they run they put on a smoke show for the Denver fans sending smoke high up into the mountains behind the starting line.
