With my busy travel season slowing down a bit it gives me time to cover other sports such as one of my favorites, Football! My first NCAA football game of the season would take place about 10 miles from my place at ASU in Tempe. With the #3 ranked Oregon Ducks in town it was sure to be a tough game for the Sun Devils.

Outside of motorsports I would rank football as my second favorite sport to shoot.

Lets get right to the shots.

In the opening minutes of the game ASU defensive tackle Will Sutton would suffer an injury that would take him out of the game. A huge loss for the Sun Devils. Note ASU head coach Todd Graham on the right helping to lift his injured player from the ground.

Oregon Ducks quarterback Marcus Mariota fires a pass downfield as his line does a good job of keeping the ASU defense away.

ASU would go first up on the board with a touchdown.

The fans in the student section would go wild…

Not sure who the hell said Beetlejuice three times but he would appear in the grandstands during the first half. Sadly no sandworms were seen.

At the beginning of the night I had never heard of Kenjon Barner but I can assure you I would know his name by the end of the first half.

Below, Oregon Ducks running back Kenjon Barner runs the ball up the middle against the ASU Sun Devils.

I liked this rear angle shot of Arizona State Sun Devils quarterback (10) Taylor Kelly as he throws a pass. His offensive line surrounds him providing the kind of passer protection Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb, John Skelton, Kevin Kolb, John Skelton could only dream of!

For this game Oregon would wear awesome chrome and carbon fiber looking helmets. I want one!

In the second half injured ASU star Will Sutton would return to the Sun Devils sidelines on crutches. He didn’t look too happy as he limped past.

Oregon Ducks punter Jackson Rice just barely gets a kick away as the ASU defense bore down on him in the second half of the game.

Grass flies as Arizona State Sun Devils wide receiver Chris Coyle is tackled by the Oregon Ducks defense in the second half at Sun Devil Stadium.

On a night that started off hopeful for the barely ranked Sun Devils with the first points on the board, it would end bad with a lopsided 43-21 loss.

As expected the Sun Devils are no longer ranked.

Next up is another college football game, this time about 100 miles south in Tucson.

Stay tuned!
