After shooting the NHRA championship race a week earlier in Pomona, it was time to head to Miami to shoot the NASCAR championship race where we would see a first time Sprint Cup Champion crowned. Ladies and gentleman, I present Brad Keselowski.

The following photos are some shots of Brad Keselowski during the weekend he went from Sprint Cup driver to Sprint Cup Champion.

Brad flashes a peace sign to me as he heads to his car prior to the opening practice for the Ford EcoBoost 400 at the Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Who says drivers aren’t athletes… can YOU lift your leg that high?

For the actual race I would abandon my normal shooting plan to instead cover the race with long glass from the roof of the finish line.

Most of my race would be spent following Keselowski with my camera. Since he was the points leader with a healthy lead over second place Jimmie Johnson, If I followed him the whole race then it would be impossible to miss any important moment that may arise.

In the below shot, Brad Keselowski (2) races side by side with Jimmie Johnson (48) as they race into turn two.

The pivotal moment of the race would occur when Jimmie Johnsons car would break ending his chance at the title.

In the below shot you can see Keselowski passing Jimmie for the final time of the season as Johnson’s broke car silently coasts on the apron, heading towards pit road.

Nosing his car up to the crew filled wall gave them a hell of a close up view as Brad would smoke the tires until they went flat.

Time to hoist the hardware.

Championship winners circle would quickly become a real life Miller Lite commercial as the beer was most certainly flowing…

Brad chugs beer from a giant glass. I saw that thing refilled for him multiple times during the celebration.
