Up next in my Best of 2011 series is my best baseball photos of the year. In my opinion I had a somewhat down year for cool baseball shots but I still had a decent enough year that I am posting the gallery! Baseball is one of those sports that you could attend several games and not get any good action shots. But every once in awhile you can get something cool.

Now that 2011 is coming to a close it is finally time to begin my fourth year of annual “Best of” blogs. Leading off the 2011 series of blogs is my best Celebration/Dejection shots. This year is heavy on celebration images but you will also find some good dejection shots mixed in as well. Enjoy!

The major league baseball season is about a quarter of the way over already so I figured I would do a post highlighting some of my favorite images from the season thus far.

Every year I promise myself I am going to go nuts with baseball, do multiple remotes at every game all season and produce some great images but something always happens. I get lazy! Well heres a look at my best baseball photos of 2009 before motivation departed and laziness set in.

With football about to get in full swing and baseballs regular season coming to a close in a month its about time I post some of my favorite photos from the baseball diamond this summer.

As a photographer who works between 50-60 hours a week one thing that gets tough is taking the extra time to try unique shots. Sure sometimes it can produce something wonderful that makes it worth the extra time and effort but more often than not it doesn’t work as planned and leaves you pissed off for taking all the extra time instead of just doing the normal thing everyone else does. But in these economic times with photographers being laid off and freelance budgets drying up it is imperative to be different from the norm to survive as a photographer. Every year I am excited for the beginning of the new baseball season and every year midway through opening day I can’t wait for the season to be over. 2009 would be no different as the Arizona Diamondbacks opened their season off at home against the Colorado Rockies.

Over a month ago I got a call from an editor at ESPN the Magazine inquiring if I was available to do a shoot of the Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Brandon Webb who was off to a spectacular 8-0 start. I was very happy to get a shot at this gig since nearly all of my assignments for ESPN was for strictly action photography, this shoot would be my chance to show the editors that I can be more than a one trick pony!
The highlight of the shoot was without a doubt gonna be the unprecedented access that myself, ESPN baseball writer Buster Olney, a producer and a video cameraman would have as we documented Webbs daily routine at the field on his pitching day as well as his 4 non pitching days between starts.
