Up next in my Best of 2011 series is my best baseball photos of the year. In my opinion I had a somewhat down year for cool baseball shots but I still had a decent enough year that I am posting the gallery! Baseball is one of those sports that you could attend several games and not get any good action shots. But every once in awhile you can get something cool.
Now that 2011 is coming to a close it is finally time to begin my fourth year of annual “Best of” blogs. Leading off the 2011 series of blogs is my best Celebration/Dejection shots. This year is heavy on celebration images but you will also find some good dejection shots mixed in as well. Enjoy!
Ever since Phoenix was announced as the host of the 2011 All Star Game a few years ago all of us local photographer have been looking forward to the game. Not because of all the star players but because the grandstands would actually be packed and make for better looking photos. We would not be disappointed as a capacity crowd would fill Chase Field in Phoenix as the stars of MLB came out to play.
Next up in my Best of 2010 series is my best of baseball photos. I didn’t shoot near as much baseball as I did the previous year so this showing is less than the level I am used to but here we go.
One thing I am always keeping an eye on in my job is the next up and coming superstars. Getting good quality images of athletes before they’re famous typically will lead to sales of the images for many years to come. About a year ago I read a story about a high school baseball player, Bryce Harper, who appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated. After reading the story I made a mental note to cover him before he went to the majors.
The major league baseball season is about a quarter of the way over already so I figured I would do a post highlighting some of my favorite images from the season thus far.
While most of my friends on the east coast are still busy digging out of the snow in early March I have the pleasure of being able to drive to several stadiums around the Phoenix area to shoot the boys of summer as they prepare for the upcoming season with Cactus League spring training. Continue on to see a few of my favorite images from this year.
With football about to get in full swing and baseballs regular season coming to a close in a month its about time I post some of my favorite photos from the baseball diamond this summer.
While sitting in my hotel room in San Francisco as I prepared to shoot NASCAR the next morning I was informed that Manny Ramirez would be making his first baseball start, in a AAA minor league game in Albuquerque, New Mexico, since being handed a 50 game suspension by MLB for steroids. It was Saturday night and the game was on Tuesday three days later which gave me little time to put together a trip for a game I figured would be worth covering.
