Up next in my Best of 2011 series is my best baseball photos of the year. In my opinion I had a somewhat down year for cool baseball shots but I still had a decent enough year that I am posting the gallery! Baseball is one of those sports that you could attend several games and not get any good action shots. But every once in awhile you can get something cool.

Now that 2011 is coming to a close it is finally time to begin my fourth year of annual “Best of” blogs. Leading off the 2011 series of blogs is my best Celebration/Dejection shots. This year is heavy on celebration images but you will also find some good dejection shots mixed in as well. Enjoy!

Ever since Phoenix was announced as the host of the 2011 All Star Game a few years ago all of us local photographer have been looking forward to the game. Not because of all the star players but because the grandstands would actually be packed and make for better looking photos. We would not be disappointed as a capacity crowd would fill Chase Field in Phoenix as the stars of MLB came out to play.

Ever since I moved to a high rise in downtown Phoenix I have anxiously been awaiting the arrival of the summer monsoon season. The hardest part about shooting lightning storms is getting to a good elevation to see above the surrounding areas. The 23rd floor would certainly offer a killer vantage point once the storm season began.

Next up in my Best of 2010 series is my best of baseball photos. I didn’t shoot near as much baseball as I did the previous year so this showing is less than the level I am used to but here we go.

The major league baseball season is about a quarter of the way over already so I figured I would do a post highlighting some of my favorite images from the season thus far.

Every year I promise myself I am going to go nuts with baseball, do multiple remotes at every game all season and produce some great images but something always happens. I get lazy! Well heres a look at my best baseball photos of 2009 before motivation departed and laziness set in.

With football about to get in full swing and baseballs regular season coming to a close in a month its about time I post some of my favorite photos from the baseball diamond this summer.

As a photographer who works between 50-60 hours a week one thing that gets tough is taking the extra time to try unique shots. Sure sometimes it can produce something wonderful that makes it worth the extra time and effort but more often than not it doesn’t work as planned and leaves you pissed off for taking all the extra time instead of just doing the normal thing everyone else does. But in these economic times with photographers being laid off and freelance budgets drying up it is imperative to be different from the norm to survive as a photographer. Every year I am excited for the beginning of the new baseball season and every year midway through opening day I can’t wait for the season to be over. 2009 would be no different as the Arizona Diamondbacks opened their season off at home against the Colorado Rockies.
