Every once in awhile we get to witness great moments in sports history. I didn’t realize it but at the Charlotte Bobcats vs the Phoenix Suns game in Phoenix I would be courtside with the best seat in the house to see a moment that has people all around the country buzzing as the moment is played over and over on TV.
.Living in Arizona is a great place for sports photography because there is a lot of sports to shoot. The bad thing is due to the heat, games are either played in domes or at night. Both of which rob photographers of getting to shoot games with cool sunlight and light pockets. Every once in awhile though we get rewarded with some day games.
.One of the awesome and/or terrible things about my occupation is assignments can come up out of nowhere and a completely eliminate what I thought would be a nice relaxing weekend at home. This blog is a perfect example of my wild and crazy life.
.I had planned on spending the weekend in San Diego shooting drag boat racing on Mission Bay with Jennifer and some friends but as things tend to go in my crazy life as a sports photographer, the original plan took a back seat to a last second shoot. That last second shoot was a college football game in Utah. Initially I wasn’t very excited about the change of plans but once I found out the game had a late afternoon start with the chances of great light I somewhat warmed up to the idea.
.Anyone who knows me knows that I totally despise shooting basketball, however when a big game or tournament comes to town I usually find myself shooting it. With March Madness making a trip to Glendale, Arizona with two Sweet 16 games I added the games to my schedule.
.Due to my main laptop deciding to die on me last week I am super late with the posting of this blog. But anyways the Texas Longhorns came to Glendale, AZ to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in what promised to be a great game. And boy was it! Lets get started…
.As 2008 began, it would end with me on the sidelines shooting a college bowl game. Although the Insight Bowl is a small game few care about it is one of my favorite games because if the sun is out (which it usually is in Arizona) there is great light to take advantage of. And take advantage of it I did.
