For the last several years I have spent New Years eve in Tempe, AZ covering the Insight Bowl. I am guessing most of you have never heard of the game and would wonder why I’d waste my evening covering a bowl game nobody cares about. My answer is simple. Its been approaching four years since I got out of the Navy with an honorable discharge after almost five years of service but it honestly seems like yesterday that I made my living as a military photographer on the flight deck of the nuclear powered aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis. While I am sooooooo much happier with my life as a civilian I still would kill to go back out on a carrier to do some more flight deck photography! While on a flight this morning from Phoenix to Atlanta instead of editing stock images like I should have been doing (I am way far behind) I instead chose to jot down some of the things I hate about all the traveling I do. What started as a possible 25 thing list quickly turned into 99 things.
