Every year I keep saying I am not gonna do the race at Fontana yet every year I end up caving in and covering the action on the two mile oval of Auto Club Speedway. Don’t get me wrong, the track is top notch and the media are treated great by the tracks staff but nothing can overcome the simple fact that it is a boring track that lacks the normal action fans are used to at other tracks.

Once again for no good reason I spent a weekend shooting NASCAR in Fontana, CA. Now don’t get me wrong, its a nice track, with a great staff and plenty of good shooting positions but plain and simple, its a boring track. Trust me I am not the only one who feels this way, just take a look at any race here and you will see thousands of empty seats that end up being more of a story each year than the races themselves.

2008 was a good year for me covering NASCAR, and although for the second straight year I shot less races than the year before I feel I produced many more quality photos in the shorter time span. So 2008 is in its final month so I figured what better way to remember the great year than by throwing together several best of 2008 galleries. I plan to do several in these last few weeks of the year. I will start it off with my favorite celebration photos of the year.

After a late night shooting NFL the previous day it was a 45 minute flight over to Ontario, CA to shoot my first nascar race in nearly two months. While this race is typically one of the most boring races of the year I continue to go because of the great light. I wasn’t disappointed!
