Just over a month ago I packed my suitcases and flew to West Palm Beach, Florida for a week of NHRA preseason testing. I was working for several clients so it would be one hell of a busy week for me.

Nearly all my life I have been covering drag racing but never have I covered near as many events as I did in 2011. With that said lets jump right into the second to last “Best of 2011″ blog with my best drag racing photos of 2011.

After missing the race in Charlotte due to another shoot I was happy to get back on the circuit at Royal Purple Raceway near Houston, TX for my fourth NHRA race of the 2011 season. It would end up being an interesting race with two predictable pro winners and two surprises.

After a few weeks of shooting only NBA and NFL it was good to get back out to a race track for what is my last motorsports event of 2010, the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) finale. With the race only being a 10 minute drive from my house I gotta say I was excited for the weekend. It did not disappoint.

Every year when May comes around I get excited to go cover my favorite race of the year, the Indianapolis 500. Nothing can compare to the history and tradition of the 500. Off to the races!

Ever since the beginning of the year when NASCAR officials made the now famous quote, “Boys have at it” in regards to relaxed rules with bump drafting and drivers self policing the garage everyone has been waiting for the drivers to get on track at the biggest and baddest track on the circuit. Talladega. The racing would more than live up to the hype. Strap in tight, its gonna be a bumpy ride!

Last year I was fortunate enough to cover a couple of off road races and I loved it. Prior to this season I was lucky enough to be offered the position as the official photographer for the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS). After some brief negotiating it was a done deal. It has been several years since I have gone to the Texas Motor Speedway in Ft. Worth. With the AZ Cardinals on the road this weekend and nothing else to shoot I traveled over to Texas for what I hoped would be an exciting weekend of action with a triple header of the top three NASCAR series.

Its been approaching four years since I got out of the Navy with an honorable discharge after almost five years of service but it honestly seems like yesterday that I made my living as a military photographer on the flight deck of the nuclear powered aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis. While I am sooooooo much happier with my life as a civilian I still would kill to go back out on a carrier to do some more flight deck photography!
