With my motorsports travel season finally in the books it was time to get back to shooting some football. At the last second I was given the opportunity to fly up to Eugene, Oregon to cover the inaugural Pac-12 Championship game between the UCLA Bruins and the Oregon Ducks. Of course I will jump at the chance to cover a big football game!

My favorite part of the college football season is without a doubt the end of the year and all the bowl games. Living in Phoenix is a perfect location during that time, and no not just because of the fact that I can wear shorts while everyone else around the country is shoveling snow! With several bowl games being played within a few hundred miles of my location it enables me to do several bowl games. This year I would have three bowl games within 40 miles of my house, including the most important bowl, the BCS National Championship.

One of the awesome and/or terrible things about my occupation is assignments can come up out of nowhere and a completely eliminate what I thought would be a nice relaxing weekend at home. This blog is a perfect example of my wild and crazy life.

Due to my main laptop deciding to die on me last week I am super late with the posting of this blog. But anyways the Texas Longhorns came to Glendale, AZ to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in what promised to be a great game. And boy was it! Lets get started…

After a great shoot just 7 hours prior in Phoenix it was a lovely 6am wakeup call New Years day to hop on a plane for the quick jump over to LA for the Rose Bowl. I was tired, sore and cranky but the gorgeous weather and great light motivated me to cheer up in time for a New Years tradition.

In the 10 years off and on that I have been covering the Arizona Cardinals they have always been the butt of all jokes in the world of sports. Things finally began changing this year when they actually started playing up to the potential they entered each preseason with. One win away from clinching their first playoff appearance in over 30 years left all the local media (myself included) wondering how would they screw it up this time.

After shooting in Dallas the previous night and a 4am wake up call for my flight home today I REALLY didn’t want to go shoot the nearly worthless matchup of two 4-6 teams. But I already had requested a credential and it looks very bad to not use a credential so I sucked it up and decided to shoot the game. I planned to be VERY lazy but I would still go. One of the joys of being a photographer is the random shoot that comes up out of nowhere and you go from a Thanksgiving you thought you’d be spending at home on the couch to a big football game in Dallas as the Cowboys were matched up against the Seattle Seahawks. The last time I shot the Seahawks they were a first place playoff team. This year…..not so much. To see how this match up turned out continue reading.
