The second stop on the 2011 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) would take me 45 minutes from my bed to the town of Surprise, home of the Speedworld Off Road Park. I’m not a big fan of the town of Surprise but I am a big fan of off road racing so it was sure to be a good weekend.

A week earlier I was on the east coast covering NASCAR in Daytona, a few days later it was over to the west coast to shoot the season opening NHRA Winternationals. As everyone knows, drag racing is one of my favorite sports to shoot. With that in mind it was off to Pomona, CA motivated as hell to start off my 2011 NHRA season with some good shots!

A new category in my best of series this year is my best portraits. While I rarely shoot portraits I have been doing my best to make an effort to start doing more so I can get better at them. While the photos in this post are not on the level of my sports action stuff I will share them anyways.

After a few weeks of shooting only NBA and NFL it was good to get back out to a race track for what is my last motorsports event of 2010, the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) finale. With the race only being a 10 minute drive from my house I gotta say I was excited for the weekend. It did not disappoint.

With the racing season quickly winding down I found myself heading to Vegas for the boys and girls of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series as they made their third and final trip of 2010 to Las Vegas for another wild and crazy weekend of high flying action.

After a month of drag racing, baseball and football I was super excited to get back out on the dirt to shoot the stars of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series as they made their second stop of the year at Speedworld in Surprise, AZ. On top of the normal action stuff I shoot I decided prior to the event that it was time to bring out my soft box setup and do some driver portraits.

This past weekend the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series made a visit to the Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California for round nine and ten of the season. Due to me having to go to Oakland to shoot UFC 117 I was only able to attend the races on Sunday. With that being the case I made the most of my time and ran all over the place shooting.

Usually when I know I am going to Utah I start to cry. This time though I was excited to get there as I would be shooting high flying Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) as they would be making their first ever stop at the Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT.

Last year I was fortunate enough to cover a couple of off road races and I loved it. Prior to this season I was lucky enough to be offered the position as the official photographer for the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS). After some brief negotiating it was a done deal. Here are some of my favorite images from my first weekend working for the series.

As a sports photographer most of my time is spent covering the major pro sports such as MLB, NFL and NASCAR. While that gives me a good variety of events to cover it still gets redundant always shooting the same top level sports. One thing I do to take a break from those sports is to look for cool and interesting events to cover when I have time. Off road trucks flying through the air over dirt jumps definitely would qualify as something different from the norm. Buckle up and hang on!
