Here is a new category for my Best Of galleries. While everyone seems to know me only as a sports photographer I like to shoot pretty pics once in awhile as well. So here are some of my favorite scenery pics of 2011. Enjoy!
.It has been several years since I have gone to the Texas Motor Speedway in Ft. Worth. With the AZ Cardinals on the road this weekend and nothing else to shoot I traveled over to Texas for what I hoped would be an exciting weekend of action with a triple header of the top three NASCAR series.
.With how busy I have been covering NASCAR during this years Chase for the Cup I gotta admit I was starting to get bored with the repetition of covering several races. .Every March nostalgia drag racers from around the country make the pilgrimage to Bakersfield, California for the March Meet, the most sacred of nostalgia drag races. Whenever my busy schedule allows it I also make the trip out to the race because there is always some wild action going on as people race at speeds over 260mph in cars that are older than many of the drivers racing them.

As it always works, after a few weeks off, I was ready for it to come back. The 2009 season began this weekend up the Florida coast in Daytona Beach, where the stars and cars of NASCAR and the ARCA series wasted no time in destroying some cars.

With a rare week in town I decided it was time to do some practicing on my portrait shooting. I got a hold of Lina, a model I had shot with before. Rounded up Naomi my assistant and off into the Arizona desert we went.

With the Arizona Diamondbacks on the road and the monsoon season coming to a close any day now I decided to focus on trying to get some good lightning shots for stock. So armed with my macbook pro logged onto the doppler radar on weather.com via my verizon wireless card off I went in search of something good. (more…)
