After several months of only shooting football and basketball it was time to get back to shooting one of my favorite sports, NASCAR. Unlike nearly every other sport in the world which has their biggest event towards the end of the season, the biggest race on the NASCAR calendar is the first race of the season. Strap in as I show you my best imagery from 12 days at the World Center of Speed in Daytona Beach.

The past two weeks I have been busy shooting drag racing and while I have had fun (excluding my 10k loss) I really didn’t get much as far as wild action so I was a very happy guy to know the next stop on my schedule would be NASCAR on the craziest track on the circuit, Talladega!

Just three months ago NASCAR closed out their 2008 season down in Miami. At that time I was close to burned out after a pretty rough schedule of races and was glad to see it end. As it always works, after a few weeks off, I was ready for it to come back. The 2009 season began this weekend up the Florida coast in Daytona Beach, where the stars and cars of NASCAR and the ARCA series wasted no time in destroying some cars.

If the Phoenix International Raceway wasn’t 30 miles from my house I doubt I would come to this race. While it is a fun track to drive on its not quite as fun as a fan. So instead of hanging out waiting for some action I decided to really put in 100% effort and try and kick some ass. Continue reading to see what I came up with.
