A few months ago I was lucky enough to shoot my fourth Super Bowl game. This game would be a rematch of the 2009 Superbowl that took place in Arizona between the Patriots and the Giants. Now if only this game could be as exciting as that one!

Next up in my Best of 2011 series is my favorite football images of the year. While I did not get to shoot near as many football games as I wanted to this year, it would still end up being a solid season of images. Enjoy!

The best thing about the end of summer and beginning of fall (even better than below 100 degree temps) is the beginning of football season. Unlike baseball, even the most boring football game will feature athletes colliding and flying through the air on nearly every play. Plus its a good workout running up and down the sidelines keeping up with the action. Outside of motorsports I gotta say that football is my favorite sport to shoot. Ok, lets get to the game. Hike!

My schedule this year had prevented me from covering Arizona State football games all season, thankfully I had a free day which enabled by to cover their last game of the season against home state rival University of Arizona. It is always their biggest game of the year so that plus the fact the stadium is only 10 minutes from my house had me pretty excited for the shoot.

After shooting random press conferences and practices leading up to the first season of the United Football League (UFL) it was finally time for the real thing. The UFL really hadn’t done much in regards to marketing and promotion for the season so nobody knew what to expect as kick off time approached at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas. The only thing that was for sure was that it would be a game of firsts!

A few months back I had the privilege of shoot behind the scenes with NFL superstar Kurt Warner for an ESPN.com story. With ESPN writer Wayne Drehs in tow we got to work documenting Kurts life on and off the field.

So 2008 is in its final month so I figured what better way to remember the great year than by throwing together several best of 2008 galleries. I plan to do several in these last few weeks of the year. I will start it off with my favorite celebration photos of the year.

One of the joys of being a photographer is the random shoot that comes up out of nowhere and you go from a Thanksgiving you thought you’d be spending at home on the couch to a big football game in Dallas as the Cowboys were matched up against the Seattle Seahawks. The last time I shot the Seahawks they were a first place playoff team. This year…..not so much. To see how this match up turned out continue reading.
