The highlight of May every year for me is knowing I will be in Indiana shooting the greatest motorsporting event in the world, the Indianapolis 500. With 2011 being the 100th anniversary of the first race it was guaranteed to be a big deal. Little did we know, those of us in attendance would also witness one of the most exciting 500 finishes ever.
Every summer boat racers from around the country converge on Augusta, Georgia for the Augusta Southern Nationals. I missed the last two years due to covering the 2007 Pan Am Games in Brazil and missed 2008 due to the Olympics in China but this year I was hell bent on heading east to cover one of the crown jewels of drag boat racing.
Beyond all the successes and events I shot during 2008, nothing can compare to my 3 weeks in Beijing, China covering the 2008 Summer Olympics. It was my first Olympics and allowed me the chance to try and compete with the worlds best sports photographers. It was a very long, exciting, eye opening trip. So 2008 is in its final month so I figured what better way to remember the great year than by throwing together several best of 2008 galleries. I plan to do several in these last few weeks of the year. I will start it off with my favorite celebration photos of the year.
