A new category in my best of series this year is my best portraits. While I rarely shoot portraits I have been doing my best to make an effort to start doing more so I can get better at them. While the photos in this post are not on the level of my sports action stuff I will share them anyways.
First up was a frame from a commercial shoot I did in northern Michigan back in January of rally racer Ken Block, below. While it was extremely cold and a huge travel hassle it ended up being a fun shoot. If you are not familiar with Ken Block click here to check out his skills behind the wheel of a car.

In March I got an assignment from ESPN the Magazine to shoot Chicago Cubs hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo for a feature story, below. The shot came out ok but had my second strobe fired from the rear right it would have came out much better. Thanks to my buddy Kevin Sutton for helping out on the shoot.

I like the Lary Dixon the most, i don’t know most of these people but he’s portrait is the best!
I agree, love the shot of Lary Dixon.
Larry Dixon’s photo is amazing. Personally I like the photo of the first kid cart racer. Amazing with the sun left on the picture. The semi-dark sky is also very cool! Nice colors!
