A massive lightning strike gets my attention during a sunset monsoon storm at Lake Pleasant.
While I didn’t get to shoot as much scenery/nature stuff as I would have liked, here are my favorite scenic images of 2016!
.A few weeks ago I found out I would be covering my first Pikes Peak Hill Climb. Naturally I was super excited about the gig but also nervous. I had never shot Pikes Peak before so I had no clue where to go and what to do. Luckily at the last minute I got invited to shoot a testing session with some teams on the mountain. Sweet!
Ask any NHRA driver what the race they most want to win is and I bet 95% of the drivers would say the US Nationals in Indianapolis. The “Big Go” as it is commonly referred to brings out the largest pro fields of the year. That plus the fact I hadn’t been at a drag race for over a month had me quite anxious to get to Indy!

After months of traveling to the Olympics in the back of my mind, the day finally came to board the plane to London for my second summer Olympics.
.A few months ago at NHRA pre-season testing at West Palm Beach I rented a helicopter to do some aerial photography. It was a learning experience that made for some good shots but also left me anxious to get in the air and do it again. This time at an actual NHRA race! Get ready for liftoff…
.Just over a month ago I packed my suitcases and flew to West Palm Beach, Florida for a week of NHRA preseason testing. I was working for several clients so it would be one hell of a busy week for me.
.At the beginning of January I made my first flight of the year up to Indianapolis to shoot portraits of the 2012 Aarons NHRA drivers.
.Here is a new category for my Best Of galleries. While everyone seems to know me only as a sports photographer I like to shoot pretty pics once in awhile as well. So here are some of my favorite scenery pics of 2011. Enjoy!
