Just over a week ago the NHRA had their second race of the 2014 season at the newly rebranded Wild Horse Motorsports Park. (formerly Firebird International Raceway) On top of being the one race of the season I can sleep in my own bed, this is also the only racetrack with a bridge over the shutdown area that enables us to get some awesome views. Continue on to check out the great weekend of racing in the desert!
Back in February I had the opportunity to shoot three separate sports in three different cities in one day so of course I took it!
A few weeks ago the final race of the 2011 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) would visit my hometown of Phoenix for their championship race. On top of loving the hell out of this sport for the excitement, cool drivers and amazing photo access I was motivated to produce cool stuff since this would be my last motor sports event of the year.
Literally hours after I posted my last storm chasing blog I saw some good radar activity on my iPad while sitting at Chilis watching some racing and hauled ass out to the desert to see what I could get. While this monsoon season has been rather tame, little did I know at the time but this one night would make my entire monsoon season a good one!
While in Texas on a mini vacation I was offered the opportunity to head down to Houston and cover a few rounds of NCAA Basketball March Madness. While I always make it a point to tell anyone who’s listening that I hate basketball for some reason I eagerly accepted the gig and off I went for three games of college hoops.
For the past several years I have always marked the March Meet onto my schedule. While its not a mainstream race where I have much chance of making back the money I put out in expenses it is just such a fun race that its more than worth the financial dent it puts into my wallet. Let the fun begin!
