For almost as long as I can remember, the end of the year has always excited me because that means go karts converging on a small dirt track in Arizona called AKA Speedway for the Holiday Classic. Ranging from 6 year olds puttering around the slick dirt track all the way up to professional businessmen in their 60’s you just never know what to expect when you attend this race.

Unfortunately in recent years the Holiday Classic has gone from a must attend for racers around the country to just another race. A few years ago they would have over 300 racers in attendance while this year there was closer to 60.

Since I don’t have any go kart racing clients I shoot the race simply for the fun of the racing and the all access environment provided.

There is not much else to say about the weekend other than the small fields of drivers made for mostly uneventful racing action. At the end of the last day I gave up on trying to get crash photos and simply took advantage of some of the great light and had some fun. So instead of talking about each photo I will make this a shirt posting and just show a few of my favorites.

Mark, I shoot Speedway and Speedway Karts in Australia. And you are an inspiration in so many ways. To see you have done this for fun and you say you were just going to have fun with the light. It is awesome to see what you call having fun, I love it. Great shots mate.
