When you go to a restrictor plate race the chances of seeing some spectacular racing is typically very good. Thats why the races are so popular with the fans and its also why I have gone to the past 11 restrictor plate races and will continue to go to every one for many more years. The latest stop was at the historic high banks of the Daytona International Speedway where Kyle Busch would attempt to win back to back July Daytona races after his victory the previous year.

Every once in awhile a crash occurs that has the sports world talking for days. Carl Edwards experienced one of those crashes when he went airborne on the last lap of the Aarons 499 at the Talladega Superspeedway. The 2009 season began this weekend up the Florida coast in Daytona Beach, where the stars and cars of NASCAR and the ARCA series wasted no time in destroying some cars.

In the many motorsport events I cover every year I typically witness several crashes. While most are simple spins into the wall, sometime it is hard impacts and explosions and sometimes even flips. Continue on to see some of the dramatic moments I witnessed in 2008.

Only in the world of NASCAR can the driver who finished second be called the winner while the driver who finished first be called the 18th place finisher. Sound a bit confusing? Continue reading to see how that happens.
